Terms of Use for Location-Based Services

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these Terms is to prescribe the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of TravelersMap Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, the “Company”) and the individual location information subject (hereinafter, the “User”) in using the location-based services (hereinafter, the “Services”) provided by the Company.

Article 2 (Matters Not Provided for in These Terms)

Matters not specified in these Terms shall be governed by the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, the Personal Information Protection Act, the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and other applicable laws and regulations, as well as the Company’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Article 3 (Service Details and Fees)

1. At the User’s request, the Company uses the current location of the User’s device to provide the Services in the table below.
2. The Services are free of charge. Data communication charges, however, are subject to the policies of the mobile carrier with which the User has subscribed.
3. The “Local Guide” feature in the mobile app uses location only on the User’s device and does not transmit it to the Company’s server.

Article 4 (Use and Retention of Personal Location Information)

1. The Company checks the User’s location only when the User requests a Service, and only if the User has agreed to these Terms and permitted location access on the device.
2. The Company uses the location only to generate the Service result, destroys it immediately after providing the result, and does not store it separately.
3. To retrieve weather and nearby information, the Company provides coordinates to OpenWeatherMap (weather) and Google LLC (Google Places, nearby restaurants). No information that can identify the User is provided along with them.

Article 5 (Retention of Records Confirming Use or Provision of Location Information)

Pursuant to Article 16(2) of the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, the Company automatically records in its location information system records confirming the use or provision of location information (the User’s identifier, acquisition method, Service used, recipient, and date and time of use), and retains them for 1 year before destroying them. These records do not include location coordinates.

Article 6 (Provision of Personal Location Information to Third Parties)

The Company does not provide the User’s personal location information to third parties. If provision to a third party becomes necessary in the future, the Company shall give advance notice of the recipient and purpose, obtain the User’s consent, and notify the User immediately each time the information is provided.

Article 7 (User Rights)

1. The User may withdraw all or part of their consent to these Terms at any time. Upon withdrawal, the Company shall stop using the location and destroy without delay the records confirming the use or provision of location information. This does not apply where another law requires retention.
2. The User may request temporary suspension of the use of location information at any time. The User may also disable location access in the device settings.
3. The User may request access to or notice of the following records from the Company and may request correction if they contain an error. The Company shall not refuse a request without a legitimate reason.
   • Records confirming the use or provision of location information concerning the User
   • The reason and details of any provision of the User’s personal location information to a third party pursuant to law
4. The User may exercise the rights under Paragraphs 1 through 3 by telephone or email to the Location Information Manager listed below.

Article 8 (Protection of Children Under 14 Years of Age and Others)

1. The Services are for Users aged 14 years or older. The Company does not use the personal location information of children under 14 years of age.
2. Where a person responsible for protecting a child aged 8 years or younger or another such protected person consents to the use of that person’s personal location information to protect their life or physical safety, the applicable procedures shall be governed by applicable laws and regulations. The Company currently does not provide Services falling under this category.

Article 10 (Damages and Disclaimer)

1. If the User suffers loss or damage as a result of an act by the Company that violates Articles 15 through 26 of the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, the User may claim damages from the Company. In such case, the Company may not be exempted from liability unless it proves that it had no intent or negligence.
2. The Company shall not be liable if it cannot provide the Services or the location is inaccurate for reasons not attributable to the Company, such as a natural disaster, device or communications network failure, or positioning errors by a location information service provider (Apple, Google).

Article 11 (Mediation of Disputes)

1. If the parties cannot reach an agreement, or cannot consult with each other, regarding a dispute related to location information, the Company may apply to the Korea Media and Communications Commission for adjudication pursuant to Article 28 of the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information.
2. If the parties cannot reach an agreement, or cannot consult with each other, regarding a dispute related to location information, the Company or the User may apply to the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee for mediation pursuant to Article 43 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

These Terms take effect on October 19, 2026.
