This is the heart of Puerto Plata’s old town, with a two-story Victorian-style gazebo at its center and St. Philip the Apostle Cathedral and pastel wooden colonial mansions around it.

Built in 1577 on the orders of King Philip II of Spain to defend against Caribbean pirate attacks, this stone coastal fort preserves cannons and watchtowers.

This mountain peak, 793 m above sea level, has a huge Christ the Redeemer statue, a subtropical botanical garden, and a panoramic viewpoint overlooking Puerto Plata’s coastline.
Clouds or fog may cover the mountain summit in the afternoon, so a morning visit offers better views.

This museum in a Victorian mansion exhibits Dominican amber with perfectly preserved prehistoric insects and plants, including rare blue amber.

This signature beach east of Puerto Plata has a broad golden-white shore, calm emerald water, palm shade, and watersports.

This modern 4,000-seat outdoor amphitheater was built beside Fort San Felipe with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop and connects to the coastal promenade.
